The case of Mico Stanisic, former interior minister in the first Bosnian Serb war government will be assigned to a Trial Chamber ’in early February 2008’. Pre-trial judge Krister Thelin announced that the trial is expected to start ’between Easter and Tribunal’s summer recess’ – between late March and mid July 2008.

The prosecution, represented at today’s status conference by Anna Richterova, will provide summaries of witnesses’ written statements and expert reports by the end of February 2008 so that the ’evidence can be presented as much as possible in written form’. Stevo Bezbradica, Stanisic’s representative, did not have any objections to the disclosure process, while the pre-trial judge part ’encouraged’ both parties to continue their discussions about agreed facts.

Accused Stanisic is on provisional release pending trial and wasn’t present at today’s status conference. He is charged with persecution on political, racial and religious grounds, extermination, murder, torture, inhumane acts, deportation and cruel treatment of Bosnian Muslims and Croats from April to late December 1992.
